I already appreciate MemoQ as well as the active community around this smart tool. This virtual conference was the opportunity to learn new tips and tricks and to discover upcoming features for MemoQ 2014, which look quite promising.
MemoQ Basic and Advanced sessions - excellent, clear, very informative. I will make much better use of MemoQ now. Speaker spoke excellent English so was very easy to understand.
Can I save them to watch them over and over until I can use all these aspects of MemoQ easily? It is quite a complex package.
Hello. Somebody asked something like this before I came: "Is it possible to download files from memoQ server, translate them using any other CAT tool and upload them back to the server? Any issues?"

Hi Gergely, thanks. Roberto Silva has just raised it

Answer: yes, it is possible. You can "download" into XLIFF format, or Trados bilingual DOC, and have that translated in other tools. When finished, you can update the memoQ project.

By XLIFF here I mean memOQXLIFF, which is XLIFF with memOQ specific extensions.

So the XLIFF file is 100% compatible with other CAT tools.

Yes. A tool that claims to have XLIFF support must be able to translate it.

But Gergely, you must rename the extension to .xlf for it to work in Studio, for example, correct?

Sounds good. Thanks.

About "100% compatibility": you'll be able to transalte in all XLIFF compatible tools, but some memoQ specific features of the document may not be available, depeding on your tool.

I hear Trados Studio has recently added some sort of support for memoQ specific XLIFF "extensions".

Hi Sandor, how are you?
11:20 May 28, 2014
Roberto Silva: 63936

Yeah, that is what I meant. Each CAT tool creates it own version of the XLIFF file. As long as the import filters are OK, I am not worried about that.

Yes, Iam ate MilkTrados International in Haarlem now with other projects.

I was more concern about the need to upload files to the server in a format different from XLIFF. For instance, a project package or something similar.
