Hi, Can anyone give me some advise on UK rates for agencies for: - translations (per 1000 words) - proofreading (per 1000 words or per hour) - minimum charge for small projects I have worked for US agencies on a per source word basis, but have no idea how to charge per 1000 words in Pounds.
Thank you.

Others may have other ideas, but I would say, for Spanish:
GBP60-65 per 1000 words
GBP20-25 minimum charge
GBP20-25 per hour for proofreading.
I would never charge per 1000 words for proofreading, you never know how long it might take.
I work from Russian so my charges are a bit higher, & the above estimates are based on target word count. It makes a big difference between Russian and English whether it is target or source word co... See more

Hello Jack,
I apologize for my delayed reply to your kind suggestion. It gives me a very good idea of the rates in GBP, I really appreciate it.

Hello
I am resending Sandra V's post from 2008 as we are now in 2017.
Please could you give me an idea on the ongoing UK rate for agencies in particular for specialised translations from English in French and an idea on the proofreading rate as well (1000 words and per hour). Also, how much would you charge an agency for a small project?
Finally, am I right thinking that any translations directly for a client should be charged 20-30% extra than t... See more

Although the disclaimer says "[it] does not necessarily reflect the average of rates actually charged and paid for real-world projects", it still good guess and makes some $0.11 per word--
English to French $0.09/wd-$0.12/wd
