Summary:You wouldn’t even consider running a marathon without the proper shoes (or training for that matter), and yet as freelance translators in the home office, we wear down our bodies through incorrect posture or equipment positioning. Usually we think about ergonomics after the pain has set in and adjustments might be too late. Start off on the right foot, right now!
Description
On average, freelance translators sit in front of the computer from 8 to 10 hours a day. This can take a toll on your body, especially if you’re not sitting properly or your equipment is not placed correctly. Improper positioning can result in a whole variety of problems including back, neck, and knee pain; proper positioning can help increase productivity and performance.

I’ll review the basic positions needed when working on a computer for hours a day: neutral positioning, chair height, spine curve, eye level, etc. By making small adjustments, you might find yourself even feeling better than before.

I’ll discuss :
Understanding the body and the efforts needed
Evaluating the correct positions
Picking the right equipment
Taking breaks

Target audience
Anyone and everyone who works at a computer.
Learning objectives
This webinar will succinctly review basic office ergonomics for translators. Participants will be able to evaluate the adjustments needed in real time as we assess together the positioning and postures needed to maintain a healthy working environment.
