I have no knowledge and no interest whatsoever in cars, but if I were a car it would be one that has a solid frame, is reliable in all circumstances, can handle curvy roads, take a few chances, and make it through any obstacles when the going gets tough…

A basic A to B car Feb 27, 2019

I know nothing about cars (for me, they're the colourful dots in the street that I should avoid when they're in motion), but there is one situation I look at cars. When I need a supplier such as a house painter or repairperson, if their car is too flashy, I think they'll be too expensive for me, and if their car is too ratty, I think they're shady and maybe not entirely above board. So I'll look for someone who has a basic, normal, clean car, not too old and not too new, maybe some vinyl letteri... See more

So I'll look for someone who has a basic, normal, clean car, not too old and not too new, maybe some vinyl lettering on it but neither super professional nor obviously handmade, and certainly not an unusual type of car. (Oh and I like excavators and such, but I hardly ever need any holes dug, so that is more of a theoretical love.)

I try to have a social-media presence, ProZ included, that shows a solid regular average type of human with a clear specialization. Not too flashy and not too ratty. (Squirrely, maybe.)

I would have a full control over it Feb 27, 2019

If it was a car, I would have a full control over it: nobody would want to limit my creativity, ideas, marketing and business ideas if I wanted to add extras. I would own it.

Pretty much like my actual car Feb 27, 2019

A four-year-old Passat estate. Neither flashy nor cheap but does what it's supposed to.

Except it doesn't, because (to continue the automotive analogy) visitors to this site seem to be looking for a shagged minicab of a translator, not my chauffeured limousine.

PS I noticed a misspelling of "continuous" in a previous poster's profile

Let me think:
- I am no [paying] member;
- I don't happen to have "my" profile here;
- I'm not doing biz via ProZ...

So, I'm just sunbathing and yachting in the calm open sea, occasionally listening to a distant ProZ broadcasting station)

It is not a car, itis a forum and comparing apples with pears is a bit superfluous.....

With Sun Ra. He will return, you know. I mean, it is not a planet where we all are, but we really need him to be here.

Another legitimate reply to another Proz.com poll.

It would be a very nice model, but not very new.
Let's say a 2015 MB 200 or something like that.
