History
From the description of an art exhibit. All that comes to mind for ancrage is "local roots", put it doesn't seem quite right.
En 2006, l’Italie du Nord a fêté le cinquième centenaire de la mort de l’artiste à travers l’organisation de 14 expositions retraçant l’ancrage local du peintre dans ses différents foyers de création, notamment à Padoue, Mantoue et Vérone.

: I like "involvement", but not sure if "local involvement" as such isn't usually used rather differently

: "Roots" implies he was born there, which may well not be the case. Artists move about and may be "ancrés" there for a large part of their (later) lives.

27 mins
belonging to
the artist's belonging to these places
34 mins
immersion in the locality
If this is not too strong?
44 mins
intimate association with the area
Unless you know he WAS born there, for instance.
56 mins
residence
very prosaic I know, but I get the impression that all this means is that he actually lived for a while in each of the places mentioned
3 hrs
involvement in the local settings
Dans chacun des foyers artistiques où il séjourne et travaille, l'artiste est amené à développer une facette particulière de son travail et de sa sensibilité.
5 hrs
commitment to the area
also like "involvement"
I avoided (by the skin of my teeth!) "local commitment", as this usually implies the commitment of the locals (to something)

19 hrs
firmly anchored
...displaying how the artist was firmly anchored in each of his successive creative settings/environments.
Discussion
Emma, for now I have centers of creation for foyers, but I'm not happy with that either.
