But all related to the job I stopped doing before becoming a full-time freelance translator.

Yes, acouple of times Feb 9, 2017

but not when I was asleep though. It is the situation when everything goes wrong at once when you just do not need it.

But then I look at Dilbert and the world comes back to life.

And at the moment, the everysecondcounts dot EU is cheering me up every day as well.

I don't remember Feb 9, 2017

I do not remember a nightmare, but a couple of weeks ago I had flu (flu: 39° C) and I could not sleep. Every time I closed my eyes I "dreamed" of a sudden deadline and I opened my eyes. This happened because, due to the flu I had asked to my clients to extend a couple of deadlines.

not exactly Feb 9, 2017

I have on more than one occasion woken up in the middle of the night with the best possible translation for a term that was bugging me. Once, it was for an in-house translation, and the boss had queried the term I used. When I told him I had found a better term, he started railing about how pedantic and perfectionist I was, even though he hadn't yet sent the text on and could easily change it.

Leaving that place was definitely a good move.

Not in the literal sense Feb 9, 2017

I'm assuming this question is using the word "nightmare" in the literal sense in which case the answer is No.

My work is quarantined and expressly prohibited from entering evenings, weekends, holidays and, apparently, my dreams.

I left my inhouse employment due to increasing Dilbertization of the workplace (I mentioned that in my notice). While I was an employee, my dreams had a blue title bar across the top and often scrolled through my field of vision, does that count as nightmares?

As a freelancer, I sleep dreamlessly, and like a log.

Well, I'd say this looks like a good reason to quit!

Yes Feb 9, 2017

A nightmare (or two) based on segments of translations.

The whole story was divided into segments of a CAT tool.

No images, only fragmented periods.

(My dreams are always very complicated.)

All target segments deleted Feb 9, 2017

When I was working on a very big project (with a CAT tool), I dreamt that all the translated segments quickly scrolled down from first to last segment and were all deleted... all empty target segments... after weeks of work

Not that I can remember Feb 9, 2017

Although I did have a very vivid dream in which I could understand Syriac Aramaic. I don't know any ancient or modern middle eastern languages, so I have no idea where that came from.

My dreams are usually very muddled... Feb 9, 2017

I don't remember dreams clearly, if at all, but I have on several occasions gone to bed after working late and woken up surprised to find myself in bed - my mind is still in the middle of the sentence I was translating when I gave up!

A real nightmare involved a Trados update, back in the days of the Workbench. I was quite desperate, because I was convinced it had all gone wrong, but my husband was sceptical over breakfast, and insisted I had said nothing about it the night before.

A real nightmare involved a Trados update, back in the days of the Workbench. I was quite desperate, because I was convinced it had all gone wrong, but my husband was sceptical over breakfast, and insisted I had said nothing about it the night before. He left for work, unsympathetically concerned about his own problems... When I turned on my computer, there was no update, and everything was functioning fine!

In fact I very rarely remember my dreams, good or bad, and normally I sleep well, but I know a solid night's sleep before proofreading is still a sure way to improve a translation.
