Formtext in WORD doc

I received a doc to translate in Word. The text appears when I print it, but on screen it shows a series of shaded {FORMTEXT}.
I went to Tools - Options - View, thinking maybe it had something to do with Fieldcodes. I noticed that box was checked, but also that it is shaded and I can't uncheck it.
Anyone know how to solve this?

Probably your document is protected Jan 28, 2005

Check in the Tools menu. If the document is protected, try to remove the protection. Possibly you will need a password - ask your customer, if necessary.
