On 1 October 2006 I set up my own translation company after spending 3½ years establishing a Swedish translation company's office in Denmark; before that I worked for Berlitz Translation Services/Berlitz GlobalNET/Bowne Global Solutions and the European Union.
As of 1 October 2011, we are two fulltime state-authorized senior translators in-house (my colleague is in French-Danish-French and I am in Spanish-Danish-Spanish. However, French is my second foreign language having lived in France and Luxembourg, and so, we are a rather unique team able to offer FR-DA translations of high quality).
Global Words works primarily for direct clients, but does occasionally accept interesting, well-paid projects from other translation companies.
In July 2012, Global Words won a contract with the EU Commission for the translation from English into Danish of texts within the area of general affairs and was ranked no 1 out of 9 approved vendors. We were also approved for the Commission's Omnibus15-framework contract.
We have been approved by The Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union since 2007 for translation of documents within the scientific area, including human/veterinary medicinal products (for The European Medicines Agency), public health (European Center for Disease Control), chemicals (The European Chemicals Agency), etc. We have delivered approx. 900 projects and are currently ranked no. 1.
Due to our specialization in medical translation, it is standard practice in Global Words that the employees attend a 4 days course in anatomy & physiology as well as a 6 days course in pathology and subsequently pass the exams (as part of the pharmaceutical sales rep education). Furthermore, employees are also expected to attend a 6 days course in pharmacology arranged by the Danish association of pharmaceutical companies.

- IT (we have a.o. translated the 2011 ITIL glossary, syllabus and exam papers (Intermediate and Foundation) into Danish; 87,000 words during the autumn/winter 2011/2012. We also checked 60,000 words ITIL course material translated by an ITIL course organizer)
- technical areas
- legal areas
- economic and financial affairs (we have translated several prospectuses from English and French into Danish and are up-to-date reg. the KIID requirements)
- sales & marketing fields. In March 2008 we did a 75,000 words project within anatomy and physiology (audio guides, teacher's guide, didactics, labels, catalogue and website) for the BODIES exhibition.
Apart from specializing in medical translation from English into Danish we also handle translation projects into a series of other languages.
We have handled major medical projects involving up to 27 languages at the time, incl. all Western and Eastern European as well as a few Asian languages.
We also do proof-reading in Danish, and this is something that we really enjoy. We simply love to improve Danish texts by correcting grammatical errors and inconsistencies and brushing up the language in general.
We strive for the outstanding translation quality and provide unrivalled customer service. We strive to quality control 100 % of the translation (carried out by another highly qualified linguist) and we do it on hardcopy. We work according to a set of internal guidelines that we call 'Good Translation Practice'.
All data is backed-up to a remote server every day.
