Ervin Lisaku has been working as a journalist and freelance translator and interpreter for more than a decade.
A journalist since the mid-2000s, he has been covering politics and business in Albanian newspapers published in English, including Tirana Times (www.tiranatimes.com), where he served as a business journalist and editor for nine years from 2010 to 2019.
Ervin has also covered the main trends and challenges facing the Albanian society in its transition to democracy and a market economy following the collapse of the hardline communist regime in the early 1990s. His stories have focused on rule of law, corruption, mass migration, media freedom, doing business in Albania and the Western Balkan region. He also provided frequent updates on Albania's arts & culture, as well as sports.
In addition, Ervin has worked as an analyst for media monitoring agencies, providing on-demand monitoring, news bulletins and analysis.
He is also a passionate translator and interpreter, specializing in business, legal and IT translations.
He has indirectly contributed to the key justice reform that Albania has been implementing since the mid-2010s by serving as a translator and interpreter with the Appeal Chamber of the Constitutional Court of Albania, an ad hoc body which has the final say on the vetting of judges and prosecutors in the country. Aimed at overhauling the judiciary and bring back public and investor confidence, the justice reform is also a key requirement for the Balkan country's decades-long bid to join the EU and its accession talks.
Ervin holds a bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Tourism Management, both from the University of Tirana.
His passions include discovering underrated tourist destinations and playing football. |
