Well, "choroy" is a kind of parrot, and judging from the description of this group of women, they are busy chattering away to each other....


Just like mothers do when they get together with their children

Es un pequeño loro endémico del sur de Chile. Los variados tonos verdes de su plumaje se confunden con el follaje arbóreo, sin embargo, entre la frente y lorums (zona delantera de los ojos) destaca un intenso color rojizo que lo distingue en medio del verdor. Posee una larga y puntiaguda cola de aspecto rojo apagado.
Se distribuye desde el sur del Maule hasta la provincia de Aysén.
Estas aves tienen hábitos gregarios, o sea, son sociables y suele vérseles en grandes y bulliciosas bandadas durante todo el año. Se alimentan de brotes, frutas y semillas de varias especies de árboles de la selva valdiviana.
Las poblaciones de choroyes han disminuido severamente debido a la pérdida de hábitat por causa de la deforestación y consecuente destrucción de su ambiente natural, además de persecución para evitar que se alimenten de las cosechas.
