This is from the introduction to a new contemporary art museum in Mexico. TIA
El mayor agente de cambio fue la posibilidad de diseñar y construir (física, museológica y conceptualmente) un nuevo recinto a la luz de nuestra centuria; otra, la vinculación de la nueva institución con el arte contemporáneo, con su constante movilidad inacotable, quasi inasible y con ejercicios desplazados con respecto a modelos canónicos y prácticas tradicionales del arte.
El mayor agente de cambio fue la posibilidad de diseñar y construir (física, museológica y conceptualmente) un nuevo recinto a la luz de nuestra centuria; otra, la vinculación de la nueva institución con el arte contemporáneo, con su constante movilidad inacotable, quasi inasible y con ejercicios desplazados con respecto a modelos canónicos y prácticas tradicionales del arte.

En mi opinión, "a la luz de" tb podría interpretarse aquí como "al inicio de". En este caso, creo que traduciría "at the dawn of our century" o algo similar.

: The interpretation of the phrase as "al inicio de" would be "AT the light of", not "IN". Also, "In light of..."in English means "respecto a", not " al comienzo de". "

thanks for the obs., but let's not mix it all up! the 1st interpretation: in (the) light of = a la luz de, en vista de; 2nd interpretation- at the dawn of - al comienzo de. Sorry if my answer wasn't clear enough! :)

with a (highly) contemporary feel
in my opinion the phrase qualifies the whole conceptual design/construction of the museum, so I have trouble fitting in the notion of 'in the light of our century' OR the idea of the dawn of (presumably) the 21st century.
Instead I think the accent is on its very modern inspiration, the museum's design reflects today's trends & ideas, etc.
