Plain film
may not be very obvious
may show elevation of the fat pad (the so-called sail-sign) suggestive of intra-articular injury
fracture line may be seen
in a neonate or very young child it can mimic an elbow dislocation
It is essential to evaluate alignment of the fracture. This is achieved on the lateral projection by drawing a line along the anterior border of the distal humerus. This line should intersect the middle third of the capitellum, giving the distal humerus and capitellum a typical hockey stick configuration 2.

I am not 100% sure though
as this expression comes up in relation to the heart too, and a congenital deformity "bowing" of the legs.
You will need to check and re-check.
