Explanation:
Natron: Volkstümliche Bezeichnung für Natriumbicarbonat resp. Natriumhydrogencarbonat (E 500b). Es handelt sich um ein weisses, alkalisch schmeckendes, geruchfreies, an trockener Luft beständiges Pulver (monokline Kristalle). Es zerfällt bei Erwärmung auf über 65 °C zu Kohlendioxid und Wasser und eignet sich deshalb als Triebmittel für Backwaren (Backpulver) sowie als Bestandteil von Brausetabletten. Es wird auch zur Verzögerung der Milchgerinnung sowie zur Neutralisation von Magenbrennen verwendet (Bullrichsalz gegen Sodbrennen).
