Discussion

Pavlos (asker) Dec 9, 2008:
Myślę, że nie ma konieczności trzymania się ściśle skojarzeń z piosenką "Niech żyje bal" - dla Polaków jest to znaczące, ale dla obcokrajowców już nie.
Khrystene (X) Dec 9, 2008:
It could be "The show must go on", but it depends on what the singer had in mind as the 'ball'. Is it life? Is it an actually party? Is it a life filled with fun and parties? Meh. This song drives me nuts anyway! :D

Let the good times roll

This might suit. It gives what seems to be the essence of what Rodowicz was singing about.

As in this extract from the Urban dictionary:

Laissez les bons temps rouler!" is a Cajun expression meaning "Let the good times roll!" It strongly conveys the "joie de vivre" ("joy of living") attitude that pervades south Louisiana. It is mostly associated with New Orleans. (THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD!)
I'm going to New Orleans for Mardi Gras so I can Laissez les bon temps roulez!

Example sentence:

In the meantime, it\'s causing considerable angst in the city that once let the good times roll.

In the meantime, taxpayers deserve some relief - call it the prosperity dividend and let the good times roll.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Enjoy the party czy Let's have some fun było fajne, ale tu rewelacyjnie udało się oderwać od dosłowności, znajdując jednocześnie utwór wywierający podobne wrażenie na czytelniku docelowym."

long live the ball

neutral Khrystene (X) : The translation on Wiki is a 'literal' translation. I don't necessarily agree. //Edit: Fair comment :)

I could hardly imagine it otherwise - for the song, that is. Thanx for sharing your viewpoint, though.

Inna możliwość: skoro po polsku jest cytat z Rodowicz, to może by zagrał cytat z Sheryl Crow o podobnym wydźwięku:

All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun

let your hair down

let your hair down
to relax and do what you want. The party gives you a chance to let your hair down at the end of the week.

or:

let's have a ball

let's party

let's play
Peer comment(s):

neutral Khrystene (X) : Let the good times roll would be more appropriate and has the same basic sense as those you've proposed.
