Here's the text, an article about how football began. I have no idea who the humanitas originally were and little time to research it right now: "Nun ist das mehr oder eher weniger friedliche Zusammenspiel der humanitas nicht erst mit dem Kicken zum weltumspannenden Phänomen geworden." It appears in italaics and without a capital in the text. Many thanks for any help.

  -> humanity and football is about as incongruous as humanitas und Fußball, Lupita. No - I think humanitas und Fußball must be worse.

  -> Pray tell us! AFAIK, it also means kindness, gentleness etc., "Menschlichkeit", but neither of these fit the above context. Football and gentleness just don't mix.
