First off, I can't make out if the sole or the shoe should be "a stivaletto". Anyway, do they means something like "boot-shaped"?

anyway, secondo me si riferisce alla scarpa: deve essere robusta, ma ben ammortizzata, con suola rigida e (DEVE ESSERE) a stivaletto

c'è il rischio di ripetizione della parola "ankle" se completi la frase con riferimento alla protezione della caviglia

potresti trovare un modo alternativo di rigirare la frase, se si tratta di safety footwear
