Si tratta di una raccolta di curiosità storiche e il contesto è il seguente:
La reine Marie-Antoinette n'a certainement pas dit: "Qu'il mangent de la brioche!" On trouve déjà mention de cette plaisanterie dans l'air du temps dans les Confessions de Jean-Jacques Rousseau....

Non mi sono mai soffermata sull'esatta traduzione di questa espressione, limitandomi al profumo di Nina Ricci e non so bene come renderla. Sono grata di quaslsiasi suggerimento.
