valuables-earmarking or carve-up formalities

Explanation:
Appropriation is ambiguous these days for hijacking someone else's culture or art, whilst 'earmarking' suggests an act done by the impounders rather than a forcible sign-over by the victims.

affectation: set aside, earmarked for a purpose > Bridge

Example sentence(s):

  -> but the underlying idea is not, as furtively reworded by the answer chosen. The formalities included the owners queuing up to sign over 'Aryanised' works of art.

neutral  Nikki Scott-Despaigne: Depending on the style adopted, I like "earmark" and "carve up", although maybe a verbal phrasing would be a nice idea. Not sure than "valuables" is necesary.

  -> Thanks, Nikki. It had been in fact been a crude dispossession in a process of 'Aryanisation', described in one German book as citizens in a hall starting with 'all their possessions at one clerk's desk and ending up with abs. nothing' at the last desk.

neutral  AllegroTrans: I don't see "parcelling" anywhere in the source text; "parcelling-out" would be conceivable but not the best term imo// "parcelling" on its own implies packaging

  -> Webster's defines 'to parcel' as: "to divide into parts : DISTRIBUTE —often used with out."
