Finnish term

T+M

Finnish to English Medical Medical: Health Care
Hi,

I wonder if anyone knows what these abbreviations refer to, the sentence being: Laajennettu T+M, värikalvolla ei kiinnikkeitä. This is a patient discharge report.

Kind regards
Sirkku

Is this about eyes?

with tropicamide and phenylephrine

This is a guess arrived at after searching various combinations of the terms laajennettu, värikalvo, kiinnikkeet. It seems the most likely target terms for these in this context would be dilated (referring to dilation of the pupil in order to examine the eye), iris, synechiae. The phrase could refer to the dilation procedure itself, which is most commonly done with tropicamide (T) and phenylephrine (a.k.a. metaoxedrine, M) as described in section 7.2.1 of the linked Finnish text. I would be quite confident about "Dilated" for "Laajennettu", but if you can’t find any other clues in the source text, it may be safest to leave T and M as is or add a note that they are unidentified abbreviations.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Hi Anu, thank you for your answer. I had to deliver my file before I received any answers, but I translated it as Dilated and stated that I was not entirely sure about the abbreviations. I also offered the tropicamide etc. as a possibility, similarly to your answer."

Hi Vladys, thank you for your answer. I think that Anu's explanation fits my context this time, but your answer was very useful for other instances as I seem to be getting a lot of eye-related assignments at the moment. Have a very good day!
