English term or phrase: grand narrative
"It has to be admitted, however, that noise can also be used as a
form of social rebellion. This is the case with popular music, where
the volume of the sound, achieved through amplification, since the
1960s has been part of its ethos of disrupting social norms. I will
consider these claims, as well as the extent to which that ethos has
been exploited by the business world for its own, anything but rebel-
lious, ends. The **grand narrative** of ‘big business’ has a practised
ability to commercialise, and thus neutralise, rebellious behaviour
and lifestyles."

il significato mi è chiaro, ma "narrative" è uno di quei termini che mi dà sempre un sacco di grattacapi... qualche brillante suggerimento?
grazie a tutte/i :-)
