The proviral DNA clone of NL4-3 was obtained from the NIH AIDS Research and Reference Reagent Program. A recombinant NL4-3 virus, in which a section of the nef gene from NL4-3 was replaced with the Renilla luciferase gene, was used as a reference virus. In addition, residue Gag P373 was converted to P373S. Briefly, the recombinant virus was prepared by transfection of the altered proviral clone of NL4-3.
