Faglig sparring med de andre kursister på kurset."

I'm thinking 'professional sparring', but is there a generally accepted term that I'm missing? 'Faglig sparring' seems to be very common in Danish education/consultancy lingo, so perhaps it came from a specific term in English? (as is often the case)

professional sparring
Explanation:
Originally it was a boxing term - a sparring partner was a practice partner who would 'go through the motions' without landing heavy blows, to train one or both boxers in footwork, what reactions to expect from an opponent etc. without injury before the real match.

It is used a good deal figuratively in other contexts, about positive criticism between friends and so on.

It should be constructive criticism to use the normal collocation.
