Hi, its that pretentious garbage again.

Believe it or not I have mapped out something for the first section. But he really loses me on the *star* marked part of the sentence. Any thoughts? I find his use of "per be que" really odd here... Is it just me?

It's not just you, Berni; "per bé que" means "although", which makes no sense here. I would say the author is using it to mean something like "while", which can also be concessive. There's some kind of underlying connection, but I can't work it out at the moment. Hope you don't have too much of that sludge. Francis Bacon, is it?
