These are subtitles throughout the text I'm working on. So there is no context to speak of. I have found the phrase on Google but can't figure out how to translate it.

1st Dérive (2nd Dérive...etc.)
The term Dérive is a concept coined by the Situationists, a somewhat extreme cultural group, to describe a certain outlook on urban environments. I am not an expert on the subject, but looking up *Gombrowicz* and *situationism* in google results in 584 matches, so... I would risk leaving it as 1st Dérive, 2nd Dérive and so on.

: I found this in Babylon: "Dérive is the situationist practice of drifting about a geographical space."

Comment: "I'm not sure that it has anything to do with the situationists (the text is not actually about Gombrowicz) but you did steer me in the right direction: I found several articles online that use "première dérive," "deuxième dérive," etc to separate the sections of an article."

Per context, he was sidetracked by a more famous author. Evidently it happened more than once.

First Evolutionary Phase
The text seems to be tracing evolutionary phases of development, similar to the term "deriva genética" which is defined as "Biol. I have attached a link to DRAE)

PRIMERA DERIVA
