Why proselytize? Sep 25, 2009

I'm not sure what feeds the urge to proselytize. Those folks who find Esperanto to be an effective lingua franca are already employing it as such. Others find different ways to communicate. Chacun à son goût.

Even supposing that Esperanto were to come into widespread use, what reason is there to believe that it would escape the kind of mutation that beset Latin and is currently besetting English?
