前段时间忙得够呛，有时还不得不拒绝一些稿子，然而最近一段时间突然闲下来，莫名其妙。

因为是自由译者，你的个人作息时间不允许你接受超过自己工作量的活。翻译任务有时很象河里的鱼，常一群一群的来：）为了质量，你自然得拒掉一些。但拒绝的那些任务不会在你完成手上任务后自动回来，所以你在接到下一批任务之前，你也有了清闲的一段时日。这期间，你也可以正好休息一下。这是自由译者的典型工作和生活方式。

在中国的地理上，洞庭湖有一个功能，就是：在夏季，当长江的洪水经过那一段时，会向湖里注入多余的水量。洞庭湖就如一个大型天然缓冲水缸，当长河沽水季节来临时，湖里存下的水会流出湖口，进入长江河道，以使下游地区免受天干水旱之灾。

现下在Certified Pro论坛里讨论较多的一个话题是：如何保证常年比较稳定的工作量。这直接涉及到译者之间联合操作的话题，即所谓的Peer Collaboration。

版主说得真好!
利用这个时间我完成了平日想做的事情，抽空学习提高，还适时娱乐了。虽然我知道做自由翻译就是这样，但长久以来合作比较好的几个翻译公司一起沉寂下来，真是不习惯，有时甚至对自己产生怀疑。
就在此时，老客户来了一个稿子，今晚得加班了，不知该喜还是忧。

工作量是否常年稳定首先取决于你的客户是否有稳定的业务，其次是你的客户的业务中你能做的业务是否足够多。
这有时候是可遇不可求的。

若客户数量较多时，业务自然容易饱而稳定。更常见的情况是突然接下的几个项目，会把一段时间搞得特别辛苦。
