The presented view of sculpture is dominated by the rediscovered idiomatic plastic art expression, the language of the non-representational and abstract art. This uniting concept results from processes which carry the legacy of the enlightening energies in Bulgarian sculpture from the 70s and 80s, resolutely overcoming the dominating figurativeness of that time and naturally liberating and expressing the psychological and spiritual possibilities of the pure plastic form. The wish to master and give a new meaning to the modern approach, to articulate the essence of plastic art, is the collective energy of many artists who have outlined the new dimensions of Bulgarian sculpture in the last 20 years. Generally speaking, according to the systematization and terminology of Ruen Ruenov, they can be qualified as “new plastic artists” or “neo-modernists”. In this environment, defined by the complex and contradictory processes taking place, the confrontation between plastic and conceptual and the change of paradigm, the product of these artists remained unnoticed and unappreciated accordingly. Criticism at the time was preoccupied with welcoming the new media and neo-conceptual strategies.

Sleep now, the moon is dying
sleep now, it is trying, but the moon is near,
it seems to hear what you are doing,
it is near to hear the end of it all.

Sleep now, take the end of the thing
and end as trying things will end: in silence
and silence all the ends that are still trying,
and never think of it all, and never think again.
