bilboquê bilbo catch(er) / bilbo bucket

Creator:
Language pair:Portuguese to English
Definition / notes:...A replica of a Ball & Cup variety, sometimes referred to as Bilbo Catch, Bilbo Catcher or Bill Bucket (Ball in the Bucket). This challenging toy has a very interesting history, believed to have been very popular in Tudor Times. The Enuit people carved these toys out of bone and the French King Henry III was supposed to be addicted to it - which we can understand.

Our toy is hand made by our English toymaker, using oak and beech. The Bilboquet has one end to catch the ball in the cup and the other to catch it on a wooden spike - it is a challenging toy, but very satisfying when you actually achieve \'spiking\' the ball!
Length 18cm/7in * Age group 8+
