There is no context but I read this as above

they say ''dust''. My question was rather related to the correct word order: light/heavy airborne particles or airborne light/heavy particles. ''Volatile" here means flying (as in ''fly ash'') and not volatile as in quickly evaporating. I should have said it's American English.
