Forum: CafeTran support
Topic: MT API key: java.net.socketException on mobile connection
Poster: QUOI
Post title: It remains a mystery...

The problem magically resolved itself today. I suspect iOS being the culprit since everything worked fine on an Android on the same mobile/cellular network. Anyway, case closed with cause unknown.

Forum: CafeTran support
Topic: MT API key: java.net.socketException on mobile connection
Poster: QUOI

Hi fellow CTE users,

I've encountered the following issue recently:

When using mobile (cellular) data connection via iPhone Hotspot, none of my MT API keys works, and returns an error message: Java.net.SocketException: Server unreachable.

This is a new problem and only started about 1 week ago. I haven't changed my phone settings or network provider, except one update on my iPhone. MT functioned well on mobile internet connection for years before that.

However, all MT services function fine when I am connected to a wired network or Wi-Fi at office or home. This leads me to believe it could be a mobile network issue.

Internet search suggests there could be many causes of this problem, including mobile network latency time, and one solution may be to increase java response time-out in the code.

Has anyone had the same issue? Or if you had the same issue before, did you manage to resolve this?

Is there anything the developer can to on the CTE code to, for example, increase the time-out limit?

I've tried flushing DNS, adding a different public DNS etc. to no avail.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and thank you in advance.

Quoi

[Edited at 2025-10-12 09:33 GMT]

[Edited at 2025-10-12 10:00 GMT]
