Bio
During my 24-year career in translation, I have done various types of translations. But I have always enjoyed doing lengthy texts such as books and periodicals. Lengthy texts allow you to live longer in the author's mind and to better understand his/her discourse and concepts. The challenges involved in book translation also help to avoid boredom. My main challenge is to recreate the book in the target language in a manner that convinces the reader that the book has originally been written in the target language, rather than being a translation.

My first book translation was Ian Stewart’s audiobook entitled “Nature’s Numbers” which I did for Abu Dhabi's Cultural Foundation, UAE, in 1998. The arabic version is still in the market http://www.neelwafurat.com/itempage.aspx?id=lbb154698-116333&search=books. This was followed by an Arabic translation of “The Dorling Kindersley Encyclopaedia of Angling” for Abu Dhabi's Cultural Foundation(1999). In the same year, I have also translated the introduction and explanatory notes of Melville’s “Ovid: The Love Poems”.

Among my more recent efforts is the Arabic version of of the 420-page UAE State of Energy Report 2015, issued by the UAE Ministry of Energy. http://dcce.ae/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/xxSOER_2015_BOOK_EX.pdf
