Report from  Alisoa Noro Fiaferana
You think we were just four at our Powwow?

Check here: there were 3 ProZians, 1 non-ProZian, 2 squaws, 2 ininis, 3 Turks, 1 Malagasy, 4 English speakers, 4 Turkish speakers, 1 Italian speaker, 1 French speaker, 1 Malagasy speaker, 3 translators, 1 outsourcer. And let's not forget our Grand Sachem Romina who was virtually with us, numerous Skype visitors (Fabio, Ritu, Marta among others) and the 2 papoose!

All this "crowd" was at my wigwam in Arnavutköy, Istanbul on Sunday, September 30 from 15.30 to 19.00 GMT where we had a pot luck dinner.

Although we had no fixed topics, our discussions covered a wide range of topics from the rates, the advantages in using a CAT tool, the non-respect of deadlines - a major problem for outsourcers, the need of developing skills, to the protection of the translators' rights in Turkey.

We came to the conclusion that we should organize more thematic meetings (preferably on a working day) and try to involve as much translators as possible.

Birçok powwow, bir kabile / Many powwows, one tribe.

Oct 1 '07  hermesedu: Powwow hosted by Noro was Excellent!
Dear Colleagues,

The powwow organized by Noro was really amazing. We have been fascinated by both Noro's warm hospitality and the perfect location of the venue.

the connections that we made through internet to Romina and Fabio were the bonuses of this memorable evening.
Noro took some photos which I believe will be broadcasted on the site by Noro.

Meeting the two sweet kids of Noro was also nice.

Therefore I would like to extend my special thanks to Noro for letting her house be used as a gathering venue and to Sadan and Susan for their politeness and participation.

I would reccommend every Turkish proz.com subscribers to take place in the coming powwows. It is really an important event for getting to know the people in the same industry.

So long !

Oct 1 '07  Şadan Öz: Many thanks
Everything was great. I've met very nice people. By this second powwow I've attended, I see that a powwow is an invaluable experience. By the way, we learned that Noro means "Nur" (holy light, glory); she really deserves her name. Special thanks her and other people who contributed to this event.
Oct 1 '07  Alisoa Noro Fiaferana: My very first powwow... and already looking forward to the next!
I was at first a bit concerned about the number of participants, but thanks to the booster club in the virtual powwow initiated by Fabio, and the various calls that we received, plus Ugur, Susan and Sadan\'s very easy-going attitude, everything went well. We had a lot of fun trying to find next year\'s theme! Thank you all! And a big round of applause for Romina (we appreciated your dance performance!).
Oct 1 '07  Fabio Descalzi: Nice communication
We really had a nice tele-conference at the end of your Powwow. I enjoyed talking (and watching). Thanks for receiving me! :)
