What is an Afrikaans "poep-hol" means?

Thank you.

Idiot
Explanation:
Spelling is "Poepol" and, incredibly enough, it is not really an insult, depending of course on who it was said to and also the way it was said.

disagree  Eugene Seegers: The e-HAT gives the spelling as "poephol", and it is significantly stronger in meaning than "idiot". Some translations are: a-hole, fart (and a few others I do not feel comfortable repeating. Pharos 1 says it's coarse, and taboo slang in some cases.

Poephol

Explanation:
According to the "Handwoordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal" (HAT), it is spelled "poephol". That is the original and correct spelling of the word. But, since the spelling of "poepol" is common (initially due to either laziness or plain ignorance and lack of proper language education) it is widely accepted now. (Intrinsically, it is still wrong...)

It's meaning is that of "idiot". Freely translated it means: Fart-hole.

asshole

Explanation:
Asshole is a more literal translation of this term, a quite flexible insult.
