Similar to KudoZ points, that information is not public now as it may be subject to change as we make adjustments during the alpha stage.

That was the answer I expected.

Deep content matches opt-out May 8, 2018

It is now possible to opt-out of appearing in keyword searches if you so choose. You can do so by clicking the help menu (accessible at the top of the left sidebar). In that menu you will see a FAQ "As a service provider, can I opt-out of being shown in any deep content searches (aka keyword searches)?" that contains the link to opt-out.

Directory visitors May 8, 2018

Hi Kevin,

What should we see in the visitors' tab when there is a directory visit from this new Proz Find?
I logged out and made a search, clicked on my own profile and I cannot see any Directory related visitors.
My visit is shown as "Direct Link/Unknown".

How this Proz Find search will appear in the visitors' tab?

Bests,
Katalin

850,000 May 8, 2018

Slightly off topic:

As of 10 February 2017, ProZ.com reported more than 850,000 registered users.

Only about 20 users seem to be discussing this new search mechanism.

Can we assume the other 849,980 users are all happy with it?

They don't know about it May 8, 2018

I think more than half of them do not even know about this new directory.
There are many translators who never read forum threads or posts.
They visit certain pages, like job board, maybe Kudoz and sometimes their own profiles and that's all.

I came upon it in complete surprise, one day when I happened to be scrolling through the current topics and clicked on this one, purely by chance. My surprise was not a pleasant one. It would be better if these major changes to how the whole thing works could be notified in person, in advance, to all proz members, by email. Most users may not even suspect that these changes are coming upon them and many of them may wonder why they're not receiving enquiries any more.

Looks like... May 8, 2018

another imposition... since this change impacts highly on the members, I would have thought a "public consultation" would be required. Instead, although the code name is Alpha, it's been implemented warts and all...

Something smells... May 8, 2018

how to put it... intriguing? 'coincidential'? perplexing?... in the new search criteria of ProZ.

Non-native translators are not even included in the directory under the ProZ Find Public Alpha May 8, 2018

I just did a search in the ProZ Find Public Alpha for the Chinese to English pair and I found none of the top 3 Kudoz performers showed up in the directory. This is probably because they didn't claim to be native English speakers.

Hi Katalin,

Thanks for pointing this out. I have updated the visitor's tab on the profile to show visitors from ProZ Find. Also, if you click on the tab in the left sidebar of ProZ Find that has the eye icon you can see recent searches you have appeared in as well as stats on:
- search impressions
- outsourcer interactions
- average search position

Yes, "native in target" is a default setting for most searches in ProZ Find.

Not announced in the Proz April newsletter May 9, 2018

This apparently experimental new directory listing method was not announced in Jared's latest newsletter, or even mentioned.
Why not? A wasted opportunity, it seems to me.

I didn't even know a newsletter existed!

How does one get it?
