ProZ.com and SDL Join Forces to Bring SDL Trados Studio 2009 Approved Training to Translators Across the Globe

With the rapid adoption of SDL Trados Studio 2009, SDL and ProZ.com announce a Worldwide Training Partnership

SDL Maidenhead , United Kingdom
01 July 2009

SDL, the leading provider of Global Information Management (GIM) solutions, announced today a Worldwide Training Partnership with ProZ.com, the world's largest translator community, to provide online SDL TRADOS Approved Training to over 300,000 translation professionals in 180 countries across the world.  ProZ.com will be operating as part of the expanding SDL Approved Training Center network to deliver on the accelerating adoption of SDL Trados® Studio 2009.

Through the new Training Partnership, SDL and ProZ.com will provide the worldwide freelance translator community with online SDL TRADOS Approved Training in their local languages. The online training will now be available to hundreds of thousands of translators around the globe who would have previously struggled to gain access to it. Initially, the languages offered will be: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, Japanese, Danish and Polish, with more languages planned to be added soon.

The cost of the online training – now priced significantly lower due to this more efficient delivery mechanism, will be delivered by SDL Approved Trainers to ensure the highest level of certified quality. To cope with increasing demand, the training curriculum offered will include new courses for the recently launched SDL Trados Studio 2009 and SDL MultiTerm® 2009.  All courses will support and can lead to the coveted SDL TRADOS Certification credential for SDL Trados Studio 2009, with new Certification exams scheduled for general release in September 2009.

“The translator community has been asking for easier, lower cost access to SDL TRADOS Approved Training for a long time, and it is time we deliver on that expectation,” said Keith Laska, Vice President SDL TRADOS Technologies. "With the rapid adoption of SDL Trados Studio 2009, we want to support our worldwide customer base in becoming as efficient as possible with the industry-leading translation memory tool.”

“As an SDL Approved Training Center, ProZ.com will be able to hold an extensive schedule of online SDL TRADOS Approved Training courses, in countless delivery languages,” said Drew MacFadyen, ProZ.com’s Director of Outside Sales.  “This is in line with our goals of providing translators with tools and opportunities to improve their work, while providing trainers and the industry-leading tool vendor with opportunities to reach large global audiences.”
