Source text - English Many factors may contribute towards losing a tooth, such as trauma (accident), tooth decay, habits, diet, periodontal diseases, congenital absence (born without the tooth) or a lack of oral hygiene (5 , 6). But the reality is that, whatever the reason, the tooth has to be replaced for both aesthetic and functional reasons.
In healthy teeth, the root transmits the force of chewing to the alveolar bone. The teeth remain stable and there are no great changes. But when we lose a tooth, beyond compromising the stability of the adjacent teeth, a process of bone loss begins, called resorption.
The teeth naturally receive the force of chewing and, in their absence, the bone ceases to receive stimulation, causing its resorption in height and length. Initially, it may not seem all that serious to leave the tooth’s space unfilled, but, as time passes, major changes can take place.

De nombreux facteurs peuvent contribuer à vous faire perdre une dent, comme un traumatisme (accident), une carie, des habitudes, des maladies parodontales, une absence congénitale (être né sans la dent) ou un manque d’hygiène buccale(5, 6). Mais en réalité, quelle que soit la raison, la dent doit être remplacée à la fois pour des raisons esthétiques et pour des raisons fonctionnelles.
Dans une dent saine, la racine transmet la force de mastication à l’os alvéolaire. La dent demeure stable et il ne se produit pas de grands changements. Mais quand nous perdons une dent, outre le fait que cela compromet la stabilité de la dent adjacente, un processus de perte osseuse commence, la résorption.
La dent reçoit naturellement la force de la mastication et en son absence, l’os cesse de recevoir une stimulation, ce qui génère sa résorption en hauteur et en longueur. Initialement, cela ne semble pas grave de laisser l’espace de cette dent vide, mais comme le temps passe, des modifications importantes peuvent se produire.

Les dents subissent naturellement la force masticatoire et, en leur absence, l’os cesse d’être stimulé, ce qui génère sa résorption en hauteur et en longueur(**). Au début, il peut sembler que l’absence de dent ne porte pas à conséquence, mais au fil du temps, de sérieuses modifications peuvent survenir.

This paragraph presents the differents factors which contribute « towards LOSING a tooth ». When there is an agenesis (congenital absence), there is no “loss” of a tooth. The tooth does not exist. Suggestion : « Many factors may contribute towards the loss OR THE ABSENCE of a tooth, such as… » (in French : « De nombreux facteurs peuvent contribuer à la perte OU À L’ABSENCE d’une dent, comme… »

Finding reliable translators may be a complex
process, the submissions being plentiful but the expected skills
(analytical and writing capabilities, command of the languages and of the
specific terminologies...) being often lacking.
My profile in a few lines: For more
than five years, I worked within
a global publishing company on the translation of two magazines (monthly
and bi-monthly) addressing a wide range of themes (society, family, education,
health, history, religion, technologies, flora and fauna, anatomy, astronomy,
archaeology...). As a
freelance, I have been able to expand my areas of specialization by exploiting
my field experience in marketing, tourism, medicine/stomatology (implantology,
dentistry), legal (family law). I also gained expertise in other fields,
including industrial ones, through my french writer/transcriptor activity
(culture, education, luxury hotel business; automotive, construction, textile
industries).
Just to let you know a little bit more about
me: I love facing the challenge of rendering an idea in french in a natural and appealing way in which the
