ABOUT ME
Weaving my passions into work
I am a resourceful freelance translator with a 16-year background experience and a shared devotion between language and education.
I love spending countless hours reading, writing, and poring over different kinds of dictionaries with the aim of enjoying the beauty of language, learning a new phrase, a new word, a new concept… Always improving my skills, always making sure that what I write is right.
That is my purpose whenever I translate: to deliver an outstanding writing that is both correct and a pleasure to read.
I thoroughly enjoy the process of deconstructing a text and putting it back together. Because any good translation implies extracting the notion attached to a word (tag) in the source language, and finding another tag (word) in the target language.
I’m a passionate of my three languages:
Spanish,
English and
French, yet I prefer working into my mother tongue, Spanish from Spain.
My other devotion is education: education in general, both for children and adults; but more specially, social and emotional learning, as well as language learning. As a speaker of a second language, I learnt to appreciate the value of the set of skills needed to communicate well (mother tongue and acquired language), and how those skills are linked to the energy coming from our emotions and feelings. Because social and emotional skills like self-awareness, self-management, empathy, perspective taking, and cooperation can be taught and trained as well as language. And they all contribute to a successful life.
EXPERIENCE
16 year-professional experience in the language industry, of such:
- 10 years as a translator: freelance, in-house, full time and part time translator and editor
- 8 years in education: part time English private tutor, English school teacher, English trainer for adults, and Emotional Intelligence trainer
- 5 years in translation vendor management: at Amazon, SDL International, Seprotec, euroscript, Unespa, and Linguaserve
- 5 years in project management: at Amazon, SDL International, Unespa, and Linguaserve
