Source text - English The number of proven facts is still rather small. Many hypotheses that are formulated today may be found to have lacked either visionary power or truth by tomorrow. We will therefore start on well-established physical grounds and recapitulate some typical quantum phenomena. We will then elucidate the issue of decoherence and dephasing, which are believed to be central in the transition between the quantum and the classical world. They are often regarded to be the limiting factors if we want to observe quantum effects on the macroscopic scale of life. Next, we give an overview over modern theories and experiments at the interface between quantum physics and biology. The final section will be devoted to open speculations, some of which still face less supporting experimental evidence than theoretical counterarguments.
Experimental studies at the interface between quantum physics and the life sciences have so far been focused on two different questions: (1) can genuine quantum phenomena be realized with biomolecules?
Photon antibunching in proteins (Sanchez-Mosteiro et al., 2004), the quantum delocalization of biodyes in matter-wave interferometry (Hackermüller et al., 2003) and the implementation of elementary quantum algorithms in nucleotides (Jones and Mosca, 1999) are some recent examples.
These experiments are optimized for revealing fundamental physics, such as quantum statistics, delocalization, and entanglement. But they all also show that quantum phenomena are best observed in near-perfect isolation from the environment or at ultralow temperatures, in order to avoid the detrimental influence of decoherence and dephasing. They are thus not representative for life as such. (2) Are nontrivial quantum phenomena relevant for life?
Nontrivial quantum phenomena are here defined by the presence of long-ranged, long-lived, or multiparticle quantum coherences, the explicit use of quantum entanglement, the relevance of single photons, or single spins triggering macroscopic phenomena.
Photosynthesis, the process of vision, the sense of smell, or the magnetic orientation of migrant birds are currently hot topics in this context. In many of these cases the discussion still circles around the best interpretation of recent experimental and theoretical findings.

The new well completion design incorporates two new technologies; external isolation swell packers, and SAS with inflow control devices (ICDs) (which were not proven or available when screening the original completion designs). The new completion design for Chayvo wells positions SAS across the weaker, more permeable formation to provide a sand free completion. These SAS incorporate ICDS (or chokes) to reduce flow from the high permeability formations which could produce gas or water if allowed to produce unrestricted. The high permeability intervals are isolated from the low permeability intervals with swell packers. The higher strength, low permeability intervals are completed with predrilled liner. Swell packers replaced cement for zonal isolation and ICDS replaced selective perforating to control flow from zones of high permeability. The key to successful zonal isolation was positioning swell packers and screens precisely across the high permeability zones. Not getting the screens in the correct position would allow the high perm zones to flow unrestricted and cause the wells to water or gas out prematurely.

Source text - English None of the case studies mentions ‘climate finance’. Seven case studies (8 %) provided cost estimates, six of which were in developing countries, with budgets ranging from USD 3 million (PepsiCo) to approximately USD 516 million (Nestlé). This does not seem adequate as it is very little compared to the estimated needs of at least tens of billions US Dollars per year in developing countries. Yet the PSI case studies only represent a fraction of the international private sector’s contributions to adaptation . Adaptation-related investments can thus be expected to be significant, but the PSI case studies do not allow for a conclusion on adequacy.
Only 22 case studies indicate how long projects run, indicating a low predictability. These are mostly longer-term projects - on average they last 80 months (standard deviation: 64.2), with the longest already running since 1993, and the shortest having a 12 month duration. Only 10 case studies explicitly mention project extension. At least ten more projects hint at it, and extension of more case studies can be expected. For example, almost 60 % of the cases are carried out with a partner. As Kato et al. (2014) show, this helps to stimulate replication and scaling up, in particular where projects were successful. This feeds in the discussion on the criterion ‘sustainability’. A variety of case studies emphasize the importance of project sustainability, including for proactive protection of public water supplies and the environment in the United Kingdom to reduce costs (Thames Water), and cyclone-proof reconstruction of schools in Madagascar (CBRE and UNICEF). Others do not mention it explicitly, but could have lasting impacts through hard adaptation interventions (e.g., construction work or irrigation equipment) or soft adaptation (e.g., training and capacity building). However, only 16 case studies explicitly describe the sustainable continuation of the project itself.
